Looking for a deep cleaning that won’t cause skin irritation but will leave your skin with an extra glow? It’s HydraFacial to the rescue!

Word has it that a Hydrafacial is performed somewhere in the world every 15 seconds. If you’re one of the few who has not yet gotten or heard about HydraFacial, don’t worry. Here’s everything you need to know about the most sought-after skin treatment in America.

What is HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is a medical-grade patented skin health treatment available in medical spas and dermatology offices. It’s sometimes called “hydradermabrasion” because it combines microdermabrasion-like exfoliation with hydrating serums.

The HydraFacial Three-Step Process

Step 1: Deep-clean. Your practitioner runs a vortex-like wand against your skin to extract and hydrate oil and dirt from deep in your pores.

Step 2: Exfoliate. Your practitioner uses a vacuum-like attachment to gently remove dead skin debris from your pores. A peel also helps exfoliate and resurface your skin.

Step 3: Hydration. Your practitioner replaces the vacuum with a pen-like attachment to apply a moisturizing serum that contains antioxidants.

The procedure is non-invasive and similar to a regular facial you might get from a spa, but it provides dramatic results.

What Are the Benefits?

HydraFacials deeply exfoliates and cleans your pores. The removal of debris allows for better penetration of face serums. HydraFacials provide a variety of benefits and treat a variety of skin conditions, including:

The HydraFacial is not as technician-dependent as other types of facials, so it gives you more consistent results.

What is Getting a HydrFacial Like?

If you’re not a fan of micro-dermabrasion, then a HydrFacial may be your new favorite thing. Although they are similar, a HydraFacial takes a gentler approach.

The practitioner uses a mechanized wand on your skin equipped with spiraled tips that utilize vortex technology to vacuum out your pores while simultaneously applying potent serums. The serums brighten, moisturize, plump, and protect your skin. You can also ask for add-ons or boosters targeting unique skin concerns, like brown spots or nagging lines.

Classy Customizations

Although these are not included in the base cost of a HydraFacial, adding them on can be worth the extra bucks.

For example: want to brighten skin? Add a Vitamin-C Booster. Trying to scale back those fine lines? Add an infusion of growth factors.

You can also choose from different strengths of glycolic-salicylic acid peels or add on a short round of blue LED light therapy following your HydraFacial.

Your practitioner can also customize the tool’s suction power. For example, maybe you have Millia or dark circles under your eyes. The suction can be lowered to gently loosen the Millie and boost the circulation in that delicate under-eye area. You can even have them use it on your lips to plump them up and remove flakes.

Who is a Good Candidate for a HydraFacial?

Anyone! Hydrafacials appeal to everyone of any skin type, from teenagers with acne to older adults with sun damage and even flaky pre-cancerous spots. However, if you have an active rash, sunburn, rosacea, or are pregnant.

Do You Have Acne?

Microdermabrasion techniques that are similar to HydraFacials are effective at treating both acne and acne scars. The deep exfoliation that removes pore-clogging skin cells is responsible for its being so effective.

Do You Hate Blackheads?

Dead skin cells contribute to blackheads. The removal of these skin cells via the exfoliating and extracting methods used in HydraFacial can help clear them up!

Are You Battling Aging?

In 2008, a small study of 20 women revealed that the women who received HydraFacial treatments had a more significant decrease in skin aging signs than those who only used serums. The results included decreased fine lines, decreased pore size, and less hyperpigmentation.

Does the Extraction Part Feel Like Torture?

HydraFacial has a strict no-torture policy. HydraFacial is a deep and effective treatment but can be as relaxing as a light massage. Nobody is going to try to squeeze anything out of your face.

Does it Take Forever?

No! With treatment time lasting from 30-60 minutes, this is as close as you can get to instant gratification with zero downtime. Think of a HydraFacial as a falling smack dab between a basic facial and laser treatment.

Do I Have to Wait to Get Other Treatments?

No! The HydraFacial has no problem playing with others. We perform injectables and non-ablative light and laser treatments the very same day.

What Should I Do After the Treatment?

Just like a basic facial, you require no downtime. And you can continue normal activities right away. However, we recommend avoiding exfoliating treatments for the first couple of days after a HydraFacial.

How Often Can I Get a HydraFacial?

We recommend getting a HydraFacial every 2-4 weeks.  For your individual skin needs, your dermatologist or aesthetician can guide you in determining the frequency and an appropriate number of sessions based on your skin condition and goals.
